I'm currently skimming through the big index of HP6 wank and all I can say is "OMG, fandom, WTF?!"

The Blaise wank just boggles the mind. Now that we know this character's gender and skin color, Blaise is no longer hot? What?

And shit, the shipping wars are teh scary. HBP spoilers )

According to my coworker, my homework assignment is to find the American equivalent of Bertie Wooster.

It's impossible, I tell you! Impossible!

Went home early. I'm hoping to bask in the healing powers of Fruits Basket and Cowboy Bebop.
And I've decided if I was to read a book just based on the title, this is my choice: No Touch Monkey! And Other Travel Lessons Learned Too Late by Ayun Halliday.

My coworker, who has yet to read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, plugged her ears and she shut the door to her office when she heard me say, just in case this can be construed as a spoiler )

Gacked from my friends+friends list
It's funny how quick a meme on Book 5 has popped up.
My thoughts regarding OotP are still in a jumble. I probably won't be able to write anything more coherent than a list of gut reactions until I read the book again since a lot it is still a blur. I also haven't quite decided how I feel about the book yet; there's hasn't been quite enough time to let everything sink in.
I plan to give my poor Harry-drenched brain a break though before I pick up OotP again.

d00d! Major spoilers lurk here. Do not click here! )

So it just dawned on me, should I buy an extra copy of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and donate it to my local library?

I've not been checking email for the last week or so because I've been trying to read Harry Potter 3 and 4 before this Saturday.
I promise, promise to check email tonight though.

I'm just 80 pages short of finishing Sabriel. Huzzah!
I don't know why it's taken me so long to get through it. There's necromancy and undead things from the very start so it's not exactly boring or slow. And there's also a detailed description of uncircumcised penises. I mean, really. You would figure I'd be breezing through a book like that.
Currently, Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident (the second one in the series) is next on my to-read list.
However, [livejournal.com profile] esorlehcar has pointed out there are only 10 more days until Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is released. It took me a good 3 days of reading Goblet of Fire. I might have to go on a mad read-a-thon if I want to read Artemis Fowl and all the Harry Potter books before June 21.
Or not.

This is all new to me but it seems that Hayao Miyazaki (the man behind Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro) is making a movie based on Diana Wynne Jones' Howl's Moving Castle (to be called Hauru no Ugoku Shiro).
Heehee, I hope [livejournal.com profile] monkey5s feels vindicated.
Apparently, the movie's been in the works for awhile since Jones' official site says the film's release date has been pushed to 2004. Unfortunately the site doesn't say more other than the confirming the film's production.

With the exceptions of books that come very highly recommended or if I've been to an author event and liked what I heard, my tastes in books rarely ventures out of the young adult section.
After I finish Sabriel, I will get around to reading The Carnivorous Carnival. I'm still debating if I want to read Tamora Pierce's The Circle Opens series since I wasn't too thrilled with its prequels though what else am I going to read while I wait for Lady Knight to come out in paperback?

Taking a break from icon making. Got frustrated at attempts to tweak my Gillian Anderson/Verve icon. Completely gave up when I tried to make that Bean as Macbeth/"by the pricking of my fandom's thumbs..." icon: having trouble finding a non-bitmap font I can use for the word "wicked" that doesn't look jaggedly at a small size.
Am currently reading het smut.
Yeah, I'm sorry too. ;p
It's by Christine Morgan, my favorite Gargoyles fanfic writer. Haven't read her stuff in years but I just found some old mpegs and wavs from Gargoyles and I got nostalgic. She actually still continues to write with the characters (though she plans to retire her spin-offs soon), while another fan-written series, TGS, ended at least a year ago.
Probably will go see the movie Holes. [livejournal.com profile] livyclemens lent me her copy and I finished it yesterday. Really liked the book. Granted, the boy they cast for Stanley isn't fat but the rest of the boys seems to be right on (physically, anyway). Love that Sigourney Weaver will be playing the Warden.
Will get around to posting why I prefer Young Adult Literature to current fiction (Faulkner and Oprah are at the heart of it).

I'm sure everyone's seen it by now, but here it is anyway: From the Leaky Cauldron, the American cover art for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Puberty's been kind to Harry. *cough*

It's so sad. What's the first thing I do when I install PSP7? I make a geeky American Literature icon. I hope you appreciate this, Anh! (For anyone wondering, it's Livy Clemens, the wife of Mark Twain aka Samuel Clemens)
