ILU, Dorothy

One of my favorite movies is "The Best Years of Our Lives" which is about 3 WWII vets coming home and readjusting to civilian life with varying degrees of success.

It also sparked one of the best jokes on the Golden Girls: when Dorothy finds out Blanche is dating a military officer & plans to leave to become an army wife, she says, "Blanche, these aren't the best years of our lives, these are the LAST years of our lives."

Guilty pleasures

One reason why I love one of my local theaters is that they offer POPCORN SEASONINGS! Who doesn't love a Ranch-flavored bucket of popcorn? Parmesan and Garlic is pretty good too. There's also NACHO CHEESE! And now my local grocery store has started carrying it. Sweet! At last, I can finally eat the organic stuff the Hubby has been buying so we don't get popcorn lung. (On a sidenote, there are actually lawyers specializing in popcorn lung, http://www.popcornlung.com.)

It's that time of year again so I'm super busy but I'm really thankful for the Christmas cards and sorry I'm not reciprocating this year. I cannot wait for Valentine's Day because then all this work-related asshattery will finally be over (furloughs not included).

In other news, the Star Trek episode of Mythbusters is coming up! w00t!

even hypothetical food is good

I could never be a foodie blogger because I eat all of the food before it even occurs to me to take a picture.
For example, today I had an excellent brunch; duck confit hash and poached eggs with maple beignets with espresso custard.
But no pics means it didn't happen.
Woe!

The nice thing about having THREE food babies?
You stop caring about shit, and you're only interested in finding the Tums.

Okay!

More than one person has told me about Jarate (throwing jars full of piss at your opponent) in the last 24 hours.
What does it say about my character when this becomes THE REASON why I finally bought The Orange Box?!

Should [livejournal.com profile] braisinhussy ever get a gold membership for Xbox Live, I look forward to throwing pee at her.

In other gaming news, I greatly enjoyed the newest Zero Punctuation review. I have no interest in Velvet Assassin but I started squeeing when I realized Yahtzee had used a screencap from Labyrinth.

I also own a slanket. If it weren't for Fanime, I would not be leaving the house this week.

LOLLERCOASTER

"Hey, Anne, how do you spell 'freckles'?"

"Hey, Josie, how do you spell 'ugly'?!"

ZOMG I forgot about this scene.

Oh, Anne of Green Gables, you just keep unfolding like a flower.

O HAI THAR

It's been so cold recently, I've been hiding under the covers and playing Tales of Vesperia which is so pretty!

I've also been eating copious amounts of noodles since that's the only thing that helps me keep warm.

I'm also taking a break from spinning yarn to finish up all those wool hats I started last winter that I never finished. One day I'll wear my Jayne Hat or finish the "Unoriginal Hat".

tales from gchat

me: I've been telling everyone I actually don't speak English; I'm just parroting popular movie quotes and LOLCatz.

Husband: *snicker*

me: It would explain a lot, wouldn't it?

Husband: I can't answer that without getting hit. :(

The saber-toothed cat is okay with gay marriage.

This is why the UC Berkeley campus is freaking awesome.

This is a statue outside McCone Hall where the Geology department resides. Victor Bergeron, of Trader Vic's fame, sculpted it and donated it to the school.

A painter friend of mine hates the cat because the proportions are all wrong. However, she is in the minority because everyone else I know thinks the cat is made of awesome sauce.

Heh

I recently bought a pretty awesome winter coat and I feel compelled to buy this hat to go with it. I just need a horse and a big stick to beat villagers.

Thankfully, I've also got some "Dictators of the World" mustache buttons.

English lit hilarity

I just realized if Jonathan Swift were alive today, he'd be all over Tub Girl and 2 Girls 1 Cup.
