I am watching Playing By Heart right now! I'm having 1999 flashbacks. I feel like I should be listening to Hootie and the Blowfish and be browsing the Usenet.

I'm at the part where Jon Stewart comes to Gillian Anderson's house for dinner, and it is not going well. They play the cutest couple--it's not just because they're almost the same height but it helps.

OMG I forgot about Dennis Quaid in a gay bar, flirting with a drag queen.

Mozart's "Dies Irae" is a pretty popular piece.
It was on my winamp playlist and I couldn't remember why I had downloaded it.
I googled it to see if had been used in any tv shows or movies, and the first three things to pop up were The Battle Royale trailer, the X-Files episode "Biogenesis" (when Scully sees the ship) and when Nightcrawler is in the White House in X2.
The sad thing is I could have downloaded it for any of those three reasons.

It's times like this that I wish fandom wank was around during the hey day of the X-Files fandom.

They summarize it better than I can but the whole "I think so and so is a better choice for Scully than Gillian Anderson for the slightly possible X-Files movie" discussion just boggles the mind.

Look! Kitty!

"Here's a tip: aluminum foil makes a lovely hat and blocks out the government's mind control rays."--Detective Munch, "The Unusual Suspects"

I love Richard Belzer... and I love kitties who are willing to wear tinhats.

gacked from [livejournal.com profile] nafmij

Ok, you know what the show is about but you haven't
watched it in a while and you wouldn't dream of
buying any DVDs.

What kind of x-phile (x-files fan) are you?

This quiz is so right! *hides DVDs*
I am amused to end with these results.
Sorry for the spammage; I'm just killing time until Queer Eye for the Straight Guy comes on.

I own a painting now.
It's not a lithograph but an honest to-gawd-oil-on-canvas painting.
One of Jon's old coworkers was having an Open Studio last weekend. I bought a small painting of an apple and tea cup on some rumpled silk. It's a painting I've been coveting for the last couple of years. I figured I can afford it now so why the hell not.
I don't know where I'm going to put it, but it's certainly a very grown-up thing to have.
So yeah, I own a Lin Salamo original. (Unfortunately my painting isn't on her web site but I'm awfully fond of the "blue bowl with green peppers" painting that is on the site.)
Of course, it's been a spend-too-much-money kind of weekend.
Damn you, Oprah! I now own two t-shirts that are as soft as bunnies. I'm sure I paid too much for them but we'll see how long they last. The real funny thing is I also bought the shirts for the double-fandom connection: one of the co-creators of the C+C California t-shirts is Claire Stansfield who played Alti on Xena and the Jersey Devil on the X-Files.
Heh. I'm such a fandom whore.

I swear, I go through my user pics once a week now. (And I need to get around to making more of my own.)
Now it's all about the Bean action with a tiny side of Elijah and my Scully and ducky staples.

Edit: Jon just saw the new Bean pic; "Damn git," he said.
** Git is Jon's special name for Brits though it's usually reserved for Jamie Oliver.
