I just bought a laptop and I'm already fretting its longevity.

The higher education discount helped--until I blew it all on sales tax and faster shipping. To save $25, I opted for basic black but I've spotted a super awesome steam punk laptop skin I'm already coveting as I await my laptop's arrival.

*jealous* A laptop would make my life so unbelievably easier at the moment. Next week I'll go back to living the life of someone who only uses computers to play on the internet, but right now I could use one. Totally go for the steampunk skin...you'll still be saving $7 in the end!

If you used UCI's version of the Scholar's Station and got a bare bones version of my laptop, you could get one for less than $800 (I know, $800 but it'd still be less than retail).

OMG, I have no idea why I thought that it was one of my other friends who posted this. Damn, I would have sworn a lot more in my comment had I realized. (She also rated Highly Dorky Nerd Queen on the nerd test...maybe that's why)

I may get one soon. I think I'll definitely need one by next year when I have to do my advancement, and I've already committed myself to spending at least $1000 on it because I don't want something lame and crappy. Right now I'm working on this poster that I have to present next week, which requires me to use powerpoint (rather the openoffice version of ppt) on the computer at school because I don't have ppt or any room to install openoffice on my old ass computer at home. But the real problem is that I'm going to St. Louis tomorrow and don't have a laptop to take with me to work on my poster on the plane. So I'm trying desperately to finish it today. Clearly I'm trying very hard which is why I'm typing this long ass comment on LJ....

PS: the Core 2 Duo is very pleasantly fast
